Translation services in the field of art, history and literature for publishing

The challenge

A unique monumental complex, boasting a heritage of both great and small treasures, has entrusted us with the translation of texts into English, French, German, and Spanish intended to be published on its website. The aim was to create a multilingual website, enhancing its cultural heritage, and therefore, making it more accessible to visitors.

What skills are required to translate artistic and historical content for the web?

Translating art requires the ability to combine linguistic skills with the use of specific terminology, The translator must transfer into words the emotions found in a work of art. Effective communication skills result in successfully transmitting the artistic, historical, and cultural nuances of ancient works of art.

A translator of art texts must first of all be an art enthusiast. The main task of the translator is to, firstly, study the works and artists he or she will be dealing with in depth. Only then, can the translator become an artist in his or her own right, arousing in the reader the same emotional response as the work itself.

Therefore, it was our responsibility to translate artistic, historical, and literary content with accuracy, effectiveness, and promptness, using the correct terminology, while strictly observing set delivery schedules.

Our solution

A dedicated Project Manager put together a team of linguists and experts in art and historical texts in the required language pairs.

We worked closely with the customer, exchanging constant feedback and any useful information to ensure we delivered a top quality service.

For this project, we drew on over 40 years of experience in the translation of art and literary texts, critical essays, and papers in history and humanities for publication, including books, articles for trade magazines, presentations of authors and artists for catalogues and events, brochures and leaflets for art exhibitions and museums, museum guidebooks, and both printed and digital tourist guidebooks.

The results

Having appreciated our professionalism, reliability, passion, and speed of execution, the customer has turned our relationship into an ongoing collaboration.
