“La Dante” and Interlinguae working together to support Italian language and culture in Parma and in the world.

 

Interlinguae has entered into a special cooperation agreement with la DANTE, the renowned Dante Alighieri Society. This agreement has been signed by the Ambassador Bruno Bottai, the National President of the S.D.A (Dante Alighieri Society) himself. The aim of the agreement is to cooperate in order to promote the Italian language and culture both in Italy (foreigners living in Italy, students from foreign universities, immigrants, etc.) and abroad.

The Dante Alighieri Society is a non-profit organisation founded in Rome in 1889, which is supported, amongst others, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Education. It is active worldwide and has always put forward initiatives with the sole scope of protecting and diffusing Italian language and culture amongst Italian emigrants and their descendants worldwide. There are a number of committees in the main cities in Italy, including Parma, which organises cultural meetings, literary competitions for primary and secondary school students, guided tours of cultural heritage sites, social events, intercultural exchanges with other S.D.A committees, including those from other countries.

In turn, Interlinguae celebrates its thirtieth anniversary this year and, for several years now, welcomes American university students to spend their semester abroad at their local offices in Strada Repubblica in Parma. Apart from the subjects concurrent to their general curriculum, students study Italian language and culture, history of art, history of Parma, economics, etc… and, by living with local families in Parma for various months, they learn first-hand about Italy, Italian food culture and way of life, in summary, about Italian culture.

The Interlinguae - la Dante partnership offers further opportunities regarding language certificates through PLIDA exams that certify the levels of knowledge of Italian on the basis of the six levels set by the European Council. The Dante Alighieri Committee in Parma has the authorisation no. 0113104, recognised by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Interior and the Foreign Affairs Office. PLIDA certificates may also be required to obtain Italian residence permits.

Furthermore, thanks to the Interlinguae - la Dante partnership, Italian literacy courses are organised all year round (in preparation for the PLIDA exams) with the aim to improve the integration of many foreign workers who offer their services to companies and families in the Parma region.

The courses offered till now have been very successful and appreciated by many companies in Parma.
