Interlinguae 's ISO 9001:2000 and UNI 10574 certified Quality System, divides the translation process into various phases, from the awarding of the job through definition of the resources required and planning and completion of the job:

o Preliminary analysis: Interlinguae studies closely client requests, analyzes the material to be translated, identifies the type of translation, the target country and the software required on the basis of the target language (in relation to the text entry system, fonts, etc.).

o Planning: Interlinguae assigns each client their own liaison Project Manager, selects the most suitable translator from its database and any outside consultants required. It also selects specific glossaries (by sector and client) and the reference material indicated by the Linguistic Resources Manager (LRM), and specifies the subsequent checks to be performed.

o Production and reviewing: once the translation has been completed, the text undergoes a series of planned checks to ensure that the translation conforms to the requirements agreed upon with the client at the time the job was contracted. Any auxiliary services identified during the planning phase are also provided.

o Delivery: Interlinguae delivers the document(s) required to the client in the format and media specified. Job-related material is then archived according to the procedures outlined in the Quality System to ensure traceability.

o Follow up: through on-going contact with the client and through meetings and surveys, Interlinguae verifies the level of customer satisfaction, eliciting any suggestions that could improve the service it provides.

Glossaries & Terminology
 
Interlinguae has an in-house department dedicated to Linguistic-Terminological research, an area that is of fundamental importance with clear-cut objectives:

o Validated, up-to-date client glossaries: Each time a first translation is done for a given sector or client, a supplementary glossary is prepared with the help of experts in the field and through research within the target countries. With each subsequent translation, this glossary is given to the translator who updates and makes additions to it giving the source of each new term. The Linguistic Resources Manager oversees the entire glossary creation, management, checking and validation process (including with the client) in order to guarantee the most appropriate and consistent possible application of the terminology used.

o Research and testing: the Linguistic Resources Manager analyzes and tests the functioning and applications of software available on the market for the creation of terminology databases and translation memories.

o Personnel training: The LRM provides back-up for and promotes personnel training to make them more autonomous and skilled in the use of glossary-creation and -management tools, assisted translation and search of resources on the Web.


TERMINOLOGY

Linguistic and terminological department

Maximum terminological accuracy is guaranteed through a department dedicated to the creation, updating and validation of

o terminological data bases with specific continuously updated glossaries for every corporate client and for every sector of specialisation

o translation memories by means of CAT tools (computer-aided translation tools), such as the SDL Trados and Across software. Thanks to these tools, parts of text translated in previous documents or manuals for the same customer may be retrieved, thereby optimising the use of repetitive text while maintaining consistency and uniformity over time and reducing the cost of subsequent similar documents or manuals.
